Check out the details below.
Our winter Wonderland and Restaurant renovation projects are both on schedule. Pop in and you can see that the skinning of the southern wall is now past half way and is looking great! As before, the Southern lift will remain out of operation from 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday until Saturday 14th September.
Ski Mat Replacement/ Snow Tubing Track
The ski mat remains on schedule and should still open on Saturday 14th September. On Sunday 15th at night we are scheduled to remove the existing temporary snow tube track and install a new snow tubing track on the northern side right next to the ski mat. This will take until Tuesday night to complete, at which point it will be open to the public on Wednesday 18th September. This will be the last iteration of temporary tubing until the Winter Wonderland is complete; however, it will be longer than our regular tubing track as it will now sit next to our new 70m ski mat. Therefore the temporary tubing track from the 18th September will be far better than anything we have had before!
The construction work in the snow dome has a huge impact on snow quality due to all the digging and machinery continually going backwards and forwards over it. This has accelerated the need for us carry out what is known as a ‘full refresh’ of the snow, which means moving out massive loads every night to make way for new snow. Whilst we replace snow as a matter of course every week, all indoor snow domes MUST carry out a full refresh every few years seeing as we don’t have the benefit of Mother Nature doing it for us naturally. This is a great opportunity for us to make massive improvements to snow quality, but it also means that whilst we are doing it, at times the conditions under foot might vary, similar to Spring conditions at the mountains. Please bear with us whilst we are doing this massive snow refresh.
