Rip ‘n’ Ride Academy

A weekly term program to learn the fundamental movement in skiing and snowboarding for children aged 5 to 16.

This 90-minute group ski or snowboard program caters to first-timers through to experienced riders. Led by a qualified Ski & Board School Instructor, sessions run in a fun, supportive environment, focusing on speed control and turning fundamentals. As skills progress, coaching advances to edge control, parallel turns (skiers), carved turns, and may include an introduction to terrain park features like basic jumps and boxes.

  • Minimum age requirements apply (ski: 5+, snowboard: 7+).
  • Program placement is based on ability; the program follows a structured progression and requires consistent attendance.
  • Skis or snowboard, boots, and helmets are provided as part of the program (clothing is not included).
  • Missed sessions may be eligible for a make-up only in cases of sickness or injury, where Snowplanet is notified before the session starts. Make-ups are limited, subject to availability, and progression requirements apply.

School Holiday Programs

Offers a great environment for children aged 5-16 years to learn and progress in the world of snow sports.

Throughout the program children are separated into groups depending on their age, skill level and choice of skiing or snowboarding, and are instructed by our friendly Ski & Board School instructors to advance their snowsports skills.

5-Day Program

Monday 6th April to Friday 10th April

Monday 13th April to Friday 17th April

$439 per person per program.

Start time:

  • 9:00am – 11:00am
  • 2:00pm – 4:00pm
School holiday program includes
  • A one-hour fifty-minute lesson each day (includes snow pass) with one of our friendly Ski & Board School instructors as per session times above.
  • 10 minute feedback and snack session at the end of each day.
  • Rental equipment for each day (skis, boots and poles or snowboard and boots and a helmet, excludes clothing).

Warm suitable clothing is required. The School Holiday price does not include rental clothing, gloves or wrist guards. These can be hired at the below costs. Alternatively, you can purchase basic retail items from Snowplanet on your arrival. For further details click here.

High Flyers

Snow sports program for high school students in Auckland, who are interested in learning to ski or snowboard.

This program is ideal for students looking to build confidence and improve their skiing or snowboarding technique. Participants are grouped by ability and age where possible, creating a supportive learning environment and a great opportunity to meet other like-minded people. The 1.5-hour group lesson includes snow access for the duration of the lesson only.

  • For ages 12–18 only.
  • Designed for confident skiers and snowboarders progressing beyond beginner level.
  • Participants must be able to control speed and stop independently.
  • Skis or snowboard, boots, and helmets are provided as part of the program (clothing is not included).
  • Missed sessions may be eligible for a make-up only in cases of sickness or injury, where Snowplanet is notified before the session starts. Make-ups are limited, subject to availability, and progression requirements apply.
