Rip ‘n’ Ride Academy

A weekly term program to learn the fundamental movement in skiing and snowboarding for children aged 5 to 16.

Our Rippers and Riders After School Program is transforming into the Rip ‘n’ Ride Academy! Offering increased flexibility, now with five training days to choose from. That’s even more chances to develop your skills and have fun!

The Rip ‘n’ Ride Academy kids’ ski & snowboard program includes:

A 90 minute group ski or snowboard coaching session with one of our Ski and Board School Instructors.
Access to the snow for the 90 minute duration of their lesson.
Full use of our snow sports rental equipment, including skis/snowboard, boots and helmet hire for the duration of their 90 minute lesson (excludes rental clothing).
Helmets are compulsory for all riders on snow.

This program is suitable for first timers all the way through to experienced riders and skiers. You can expect to learn to control your speed and how to turn in a fun, group environment. As you progress we will teach you to control your edges and how to execute different types of turn, including parallel (for skis) and carved turns. Other progressions will introduce you to the terrain park and how to navigate basic jumps and boxes.

In addition to the Rip ‘n’ Ride Academy price below, you may also need a Snowplanet RFID card to access the lifts and ski mat in the Snow Dome. A deposit of $7 is charged for this RFID card. Please keep the card for future use (the duration of the term program) or return it for a full refund.

Members include Year, Flexi Year & Family Membership holders.
All fees must be paid prior to the first session and are non-refundable.
Minimum numbers per program and groups apply.
Make-up sessions only apply due to sickness or injury. Please contact juliette@snowplanet.co.nz to lodge a missed session.
Maximum of 2 make up sessions per term are allowed, with 1 carried over to the next term.
Photos and videos of your children might be taken during a session and used on Social Media, if you do not agree to this please contact juliette@snowplanet.co.nz

School Holiday Programs

Offers a great environment for children aged 5-16 years to learn and progress in the world of snow sports.

Throughout the program children are separated into groups depending on their age, skill level and choice of skiing or snowboarding, and are instructed by our friendly Ski & Board School instructors to advance their snowsports skills.

$439 per person per program.

Start 9:00am – 11:00am

Start 2:00pm – 4:00pm

School holiday program includes

A two-hour lesson each day (includes snow pass) with one of our friendly Ski & Board School instructors as per session times above.
Rental equipment for each day (skis, boots and poles or snowboard and boots and a helmet, excludes clothing).
A small snack at break time each day.

Warm suitable clothing is required. The School Holiday price does not include rental clothing, gloves or wrist guards. These can be hired at the below costs. Alternatively, you can purchase basic retail items from Snowplanet on your arrival. For further details click here.

What each student will learn will depends on their overall ability. The progression for this Program begins with speed control and learning to turn. We will then cover edge control and introduce different types of turns, including parallel turns (for skiers) and carved turns for more advanced learners. Other progressions include an introduction to the terrain park, where you will learn to handle basic jumps and boxes.

Cancellation Policy

All fees must be paid prior to first session.
Cancellations made within 24 hours of program start will incur a cancellation fee of $30 per session booked, with remaining amount refunded. Ie: 5 day program = $150 cancellation fee.
Cancellations made with more than 24 hours will receive a full refund.

High Flyers

Snow sports program for high school students in Auckland, who are interested in learning to ski or snowboard.

The High Flyers program is best suited for High School students

For ages 12 – 18.

Suitable for students who are interested in improving their technique and ability in skiing or snowboarding. Students will be grouped according to ability and age where possible. This is a great way to learn a new sport while meeting other like-minded people. The Program is on Tuesday after school. The program includes:

1.5 hour group lesson and snow access for the lesson only
1.5 hour rental equipment hire, skis & boots or snowboard & boots. (clothing not included)
1.5 hour Helmet hire (Helmets are compulsory, and must be worn to participate in the program)

High Flyers for Term 2 will be run alongside our new Rip n Ride Academy. We will do our upmost to ensure students will learn in similar age groups and continue to delivery a specialty learn opportunity for Auckland High School students. Please sign up here.
